An ethical online Spanish school

Our school gives back to communities in Guatemala by raising awareness and funds for local charities.

We partner with charities in Guatemala making a real difference.

Our Fundraiser for
Covid-19 Emergency Relief in Guatemala

The outbreak of Coronavirus has led to a humanitarian crisis impacting millions in Guatemala. With nearly 60% of the population living below the poverty line, Guatemalan communities are struggling to survive the fallout of the pandemic. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise nearly £1,000 for charities acting as a lifeline to these communities.

Guatemala is a country of immense natural and cultural beauty, and home to our teachers. Yet, it also faces deep-rooted problems, from a lack of educational opportunities to chronic malnutrition.

Local grass-root charities play an important role in development work in Guatemala. One such charity is Asociación Fatima, established for 25 years and delivers aid to those who most need it. Local charities like Asociación Fatima have a close interaction with the local community but are often overlooked for support.

We give back to local communities through:

  1. Working hands-on with local charities to help them become self-sufficient. Co-founder, Rustom, sits on the board of directors of the charity Asocación Fatima.
  2. Raising awareness about social issues facing marginalised communities through talks, volunteer placements and charity partnerships.

How you can help

We want to continue helping charities like Asociación Fatima gain greater exposure and strengthen as organisations. We are able to continue supporting these organisations, through donating part of our profits to them.  Therefore, when you get involved with our school's activities, you are indirectly helping a wider community:

Rustom is based in Guatemala. Therefore if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch at rustom.marker@spanishmarks.com
