Education Projects Abroad

Volunteer with a local charity providing teaching and educational support to underprivileged communities in Guatemala.

Education in Guatemala

Guatemala is known as the land of eternal spring, with a fascinating landscape of volcanoes, ancient ruins and colourful towns. Yet, a host of challenges surround the country's educational system. Poor funding, a lack of adequate resources and limited teacher training are endemic problems, particularly in rural areas. Many children are forced to drop out of school as their families cannot afford the costs of education. This leaves them illiterate and with limited future opportunities. Indigenous girls are among the country's most disadvantaged group with few educational opportunities and early marriage.

Teach abroad in Guatemala

Changing a country's future means investing in the education of it's people. Volunteer with our partner-charity, Asociación Fatima, established for over 30 years. Situated in the beautiful region of Quetzaltenango, the charity is run by local people who have a close interaction and understanding of local community needs.

There are opportunities to work with a wide age-range from young children to adults. You may find yourself helping children with their social or language skills. Alternatively there are opportunities to set up educational workshops for adults, including on women's rights, nutrition, business mentoring, and much more.
